Courances Newsletter : June 2011 Newsletter de Courances By Valentine de Ganay

On Sunday June 12th, come and listen to a host of bird songs, both real and fake … and follow the birdwatcher and the birdman into the woods at Courances. With them, you will see, and especially hear, the birds that live in the park.
You might even be able to sing as they do once you’ve completed the hour-long walk !
Please book online at www.courances.net, in the ‘events’ section. In order not to frighten the birds away, places are limited. Walks leave at 11:30 am, 2:30 pm and 4:00 pm.

Rémi Boulongne, an ornithologist and a carpenter, set up camp in the park at Courances this spring to create the bird-watcher's basket, the second basket of the season.
You can rent yours in the Tea Room with its map of the trail, its binoculars, its information pack, and its bird-callers, and you too can be a bird-watcher over the coming weekends.
But on Sunday 12th June, let yourself be guided by the birdman (Jean Boucault) and the bird-watcher. Click here to book online.

Did you know that Beethoven wrote the Fifth Symphony after hearing the call of a little bird called the yellow-hammer that lives between the plains and the woods?!

You can also have lunch or tea in our Tea Room, in front of the Japanese garden.

PS. Have you seen the new book on Courances? Beatrice Bibal spent two years capturing the images throughout the various seasons.
